How do I set up an insured?

The required and optional steps needed in order to begin managing and creating certificates of insurance.

Certificate Hero integrates with a broker or agency’s Agency Management System (AMS) in order to assist in populating and creating certificates of insurance. Insureds will pull from the Agency Management System and will be searchable and selectable within Certificate Hero.

If a user wants to create a certificate within Certificate Hero, they must import the policies they wish to use. See POLICY MANAGER for more information. Any other information needed for the certificate can be quick-added from the Certificate Editor. See: How Do I Create a Certificate for more information.

Additionally, there are two ways for a user to bring their Legacy Certificates into Certificate Hero. The first, Legacy Certificate Ingestion, is expanded upon here

If a user is going to do a Legacy Import, there are additional set-up steps required. Importing legacy certificates allows a user to take the certificate information from their previous certificate system and transfer it into Certificate Hero so that the user can interact with and use the legacy certificates.

Legacy certificate data is formatted into the Certificate Hero import CSV. Columns include:

  1. Holder Name / Holder Addressee / Mailing Address 1 / Mailing Address 2 / City / State / Zip
  2. Description of Operations
  3. Email Recipient (multiple columns as needed)
  4. Fax Recipient (multiple columns as needed)
  5. Deactivation Date (optional)
  6. Templates (case sensitive)
  7. Endorsements (case sensitive)

*Note, if the endorsement is linked to a template which does not have the policy the endorsement is attached to, the endorsement will not be added to the certificate.

A blank copy of the Certificate Hero formatted CSV is available for download from the IMPORT slider.

Import - csv

By filling out this information and importing it into Certificate Hero, the user is able to generate certificates based on the information provided.

In addition to formatting the CSV, the user needs to create any template and endorsement mentioned on the CSV within the Certificate Hero system. This will ensure the certificates are generated with the correct coverages and attached endorsements.

+ CREATE IMPORT will bring up the create slider.  The user names their import, selects comma as their multi-cell delimiter, and then drag and drops or uploads the CSV file.

A successful import will import the legacy certificates into the Certificate Manager, and the user will be able to view them there.
